Have you ever stressed over naming Etsy images when editing photos for a product listing? Well, I’m about to remove one thing from your to-do list.
Naming Etsy images is a waste of your time
You could create the most keyword-rich, SEO-optimized image title in the world and save it to your computer, but once you upload that photo to your product listing, the title gets blown to pieces. That’s right: Etsy renames every single image according to their own internal system for indexing them.
But that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook when it comes to increasing the chances of search engines showing photos of your product in image search results. Watch this Etsy Ed Quick Tip to learn what image-related information you can control.
Update added 12/2/17: Please see David’s question and my reply in the comments section so that you’re aware of the slight change from what I discuss in the video.

[Just a note: If you’re posting about your products on your blog or they’re being featured in a giveaway by another blogger, etc., you definitely want to pay attention to what the files are named since those titles will stick.]
