Should I use my Etsy shop name as a tag?
I believe you should use your Etsy shop name as a tag for at least a few listings. But be sure to intersperse both the version without spaces like Etsy shows it (ATime4Everything) and the the version with spaces, which is more likely to be how a buyer types it into the search bar (A Time 4 Everything / A Time for Everything). If your full shop name is too long for a tag, you can shorten it. I have to use Time for Everything, and it still works when the full name is searched. Both versions of my shop name (the squished and the spaced) are in the top 15 most searched keywords in my stats this year, so I say it’s definitely worth it!
You might even want to use your own name, in case someone knows you have a shop on Etsy but doesn’t remember what it’s called.
But please, don’t use someone else’s shop name as a tag. I know people whose competitors do this to gain traffic unfairly, and it just lacks integrity. Use honest means to get people to your shop. It’s one thing to get ideas for tags from other listings, but don’t capitalize on the hard work and success of another seller by using something as personal as her shop name.
Do you use your shop name as a tag and see it in your list of top keywords in stats?
