Etsy email list landing page with no website

If you’re an Etsy seller without a separate website, you can still have a landing page for building an email list. In this video, I show you how easy it is.

Is there a way to have this pop up on your Etsy page when people visit?

No, it’s one workaround to the roadblock of not being able to collect email addresses directly from our Etsy customers. Any sort of popup or signup form would require access to the back end of the Etsy site.

I have set up my forms as you taught… But what do I do with them? Where do people find me?

Hi, Amy! Great job getting that part finished! People find your signup form via the URL I talk about in the video. (On MailChimp it begins with eepurl.) The other two posts that I linked above give you more info on how to create a branded shortlink as well as some places in your shop to put your link.

    Hi Melissa,

I listened to the podcast you did with Beth Ann, where you mentioned downloading orders from Etsy to FB to make a lookalike audience. How do I go about downloading my orders from Etsy and then upload the customers to Facebook to be able to create a lookalike audience? And is this a gray area with Etsy or allowed? Loved the podcast and your biweekly Etsy updates. So informative.

      Hi, Karen!

If you scroll down to the bottom of an orders page, you’ll see “Download a CSV file with the details for each order.” Click that link, and on the next page, scroll down and choose Orders under CSV type and then the month and/or year.

When you’re creating an audience for Facebook ads, you choose Custom Audience and then Customer File. It will create an audience of those customers, and once it’s generated you can then create a Lookalike Audience from that Custom Audience.

As far as Etsy goes, this is from their Terms (directed to buyers):

We use your information to provide and improve the Services and our products, for billing and payments, for identification and authentication, for targeted online and offline marketing, to contact members or interested parties, and for general research and aggregate reporting. For example, we may learn the sorts of products that you’re interested in from your browsing and purchasing behavior on (and off) the Site or Apps and suggest potential purchases as a result. Similarly, we or our sellers may advertise our Services or our sellers’ products through a variety of different mediums. As part of this, we may work with advertising partners such as Facebook or Google.

Since they mention “or our sellers” as well as Facebook in the wording, I feel confident that creating an audience that looks like past customers in order to advertise our products is completely within the parameters. Plus it gets more traffic to the site, which is a win for Etsy as well. 🙂
